This project will provide new knowledge, and use innovative and state-of-the-art technologies that will provide better strategies for the diagnosis, classification, prognosis and therapeutic options for patients with haematological malignancies. The activities of the CETRH will be disseminated as widely as possibly to diverse groups of people including basic scientists from academic- research institutions and industrial settings, clinicians, patients and general public who it is expected will benefit from this research. The project will involve nationally recognized groups in their specific areas of expertise, whose studies will have a significant impact on the scientific community and leukaemia research in the country, as well as an internationally recognized partner group from the University of Barcelona that will promote the exchange and dissemination of technologies, knowledge and expertise. The participation of the Bulgarian Society of Clinical and Transfusion Haematology will have two-side aspects – on one side, it will actively take part in the dissemination of the results and information coming from the project, and on the other it will be a major target of this dissemination since it comprises the haematological professional community in the country.
In total, the target groups of dissemination will specifically include:
The project results will be disseminated on several levels. The dissemination among partners involves the reports of the interim analyses and the Interim and Final report to the Ministry of Education and Science that will be available for all members of the team, and also personal communications between the coordinator and the partners.
The CETRH website will create a platform for communication among researchers, clinicians, companies and patients and will be linked to related sites for rapid transfer and dissemination of information. The resource will comprise the following major areas:
The study team accepts and encourages the publication of this project summary on the NSFB web site if it is approved for financial support. Furthermore, as this is a national project, in case of approval from NSFB the study coordinator will inform the Bulgarian professional organizations of the health care professionals in Hematology (Bulgarian Society of Clinical and Tranfusion Hematology), Clinical Immunology (Association for Clinical Immunology), and others about the project scope, goals and research approaches. Study team will appreciate the announcement of this project as ongoing on the web-sites of those organizations.
Scientific publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals generated as a result of collaborative research during the project either in the form of original, review, or technical articles and Presentations at national and international conferences will be made by participants on behalf of the project to demonstrate the translational aspects of the studies. Publication policy will be discussed at the regular team meetings, with due consideration to co-authorship and any other issues will also be examined at that time.
Project Management Board and Scientific Board Meetings will be planned to take place on a regular basis, ideally every six months. To increase the visibility of CETRH, the meetings of the Scientific Board will be planned to be held around major scientific and/or clinical relevant conferences in the field, such as the meetings of the Bulgarian Society of Clinical and Transfusion Haematology.
Special topics seminars focused on particular advanced technologies, ethical and data management issues, breakthrough achievements will be held. Researchers that have undergone training under the project in the partner’s or other leading center will inform a broader audience of interested researchers at these seminars in the conference room of the NSBALHZ after timely announcement, incl. on the website. The dissemination activities will also include annual workshops on translational research in Hematology providing direct information and “hands-on” experience on various technologies. They will involve members of the research team, as well as leading specialists invited as lecture guests. Two tutorials on the translation of basic research data into up-to-date diagnostic work up of hamatopoietic malignancies, one of myeloid, and one of lymphoid neoplasms will be held with the aid of the European School of Haematology (ESH). Agreement for such events in Bulgaria has already been obtained by the ESH. The tutorials will target practicing haematologists, as well as labotratory specialists involved in pathological, immunological, cytogenetic and molecular diagnostics of haematopoietic neoplasms.
This project has no commercial goals. Therefore, prior to publication of any data obtained in the project the study coordinator will carefully monitor whether there is any commercial interest in those results before release into the public domain. The possibility that new diagnostic and prognostic markers may potentially be identified or new techniques evolved will be kept under particularly close surveillance. Other than this, dissemination of results will be as wide as possible, on web sites and in print.
